Prayers for Day 2
The Song of Hannah (1 Samuel 2:1-2)
“My heart rejoices in the Lord;
in the Lord my horn is lifted high.
My mouth boasts over my enemies,
for I delight in your deliverance.
There is no one holy like the Lord;
there is no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God.”
Prayers for Day 2
Risen Lord,
whose first commission of evangelism was to the women at the empty tomb,
we give you thanks for those women of faith who have shaped our lives.
We pray your blessing on the women of our land and in our world:
in leadership and in service,
in teaching and in learning,
in domesticity and in industry.
Grant our Lord and Saviour, in your merciful loving-kindness
an end to oppression and inequality;
and continue, we pray, to raise up women who will proclaim your resurrection
and so bless those to whom they bear witness.
This we ask in your name O Christ, through the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen.
Prayer Points
•That God would continue to raise up a generation of women and empower them to service in His Church
•For an end to gender-based inequality and violence; especially for the work of organisations throughout the world who seek to bring an end to the trafficking of women and girls
•For women who may be facing particular challenges in family life as a result of COVID-19–around budgeting, education, working from home
Hilary McClay shares a message especially for women during 10 Days of Prayer in the diocese.
